About Us

Our Story & Mission

Founded in 2016, Caring for Citizens of Alabama, Inc. was built on the belief that every person deserves access to nutritious food, essential resources, and the opportunity to thrive.

Who We Are

Turning Compassion Into Action

Caring for Citizens of Alabama, Inc. is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality of life for individuals and families across Alabama — especially those facing hunger, financial hardship, limited access to healthcare, and workforce barriers.

Founded with a heart for service and a vision for sustainable change, our organization exists to meet immediate needs while building long-term pathways to stability, dignity, and self-sufficiency. We are not simply a food bank. We are a comprehensive community support organization that addresses the full spectrum of challenges facing Alabama's most vulnerable residents.

Since our establishment in 2016, we have proudly served seniors, families, children, and at-risk populations through holistic, wrap-around support services designed to strengthen individuals and uplift entire communities. We go to the people — conducting active outreach so that no one is left behind due to lack of transportation, awareness, or access.

Our Framework

CCA operates within the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) framework — the evidence-based model recognized by the CDC, WHO, and leading health foundations.

Research shows that 80% of health outcomes are shaped not by medical care, but by social and economic conditions. CCA directly addresses all five SDOH domains through our programs, recognizing that lasting community health requires action far beyond the clinic or the food pantry.
